Rummage Sale Treasures

So along with crafting my own cool things, I am obsessed with going to rummage sales. I thoroughly enjoy looking through peoples junk to find little treasures that I will make mine. It is one of the many favorite things that I love about summer. I recently just heard of the worlds largest yard sale that spans 600+ miles long and goes from Michigan to Arizona!!!! You can imagine my excitement when I found this out...I emailed my mom immediately and told her about it(she shares my enthusiasm for rummage sales as well) and told her we need to take a 4 day vacation so we can partake in this glorious event. Anyway, rummage sales are a great way to find cheap pieces of furniture and decor for the home and turn them into something fabulous. 


These 3 pieces of art work are made of metal with a wood frame around them. I found them at a local rummage sale and the lady wanted like $12 for all 3, I got her to go down to $6 for all 3! What a bargain!!!! Now they are currently placed on my bedroom wall going well with my black, white and accent blue decor in my room. And the best thing is if I ever decided to change the color in my room of move them into another room, I can always just spray paint them a different color. 

This end table is probably my favorite piece I've gotten at a rummage sale so far. It used to be this ugly, old brown thing that wasn't even stable. But I saw it and instantly fell in love with it. The thing that I love about it is that it's a bit retro with the circular shape in the middle and you can't really find anything like it in stores. I think I paid like $7 for this guy...finding a nightstand that you love...Priceless(not bad when a new nightstand can cost like 30+ bucks).

I wish I had before and after pictures. It was a piece of work to gettin' this thing in decent shape...sanding is hard work, don't let anyone tell you differently. So I just sanded it down to get all the old paint off, then I evened out the bottom so it was sturdy again. Then I decided I wanted to use it in my room as a nightstand. So I painted it black and it looks great now! There was a middle shelf that goes in the circular half but I never got to puttin' that piece back in...oops. Still looks good without it though. :)

It's coming up on a year that we've been non-divorced-divorced and I'm still knees deep in pain and hurt. I spend most of my days self-reflecting and trying to figure things out like; what is wrong with me, am I a narcissist, is he a narcissist? Am I the one who caused him pain and damaged him? Did I force him to be the way he was the same way I feel like he forced me to be the way I was? Let me just say, it's exhausting. Self-reflecting and navigating your emotions and feelings is hard, exhaustive work. I feel like I am constantly in this ebb and flow of emotions. One second I'm on the path to healing and then something will happen and I will completely unravel. I can experience this every few weeks, days, and even sometimes all within one day. Long Time Gone

It's been forever since I last posted and a lot has changed since then as well. I've moved, lost someone close to me, ended friendships and gained some new ones, and a lot more in between.The main reason for my absence is that I haven't had a computer since August so I haven't been able to post on my blog as much as I want. I still don't have a computer but I'm surviving without one...for now. As of today it has officially been a year a since I graduated college and it is shocking at how much has changed. Last December I felt like I was on top of the world, things were happening for me and life was the best it could get. This December is a different story. I feel like I'm climbing a mountain and every time I get somewhere I lose my grounding and fall all the way back down, I'm getting nowhere. I try to stay positive about everything. The Letter

Below is the letter I wrote to my ex-fiance about a month after we separated and after spending the week house sitting our home and dog while he was off on vacation. During this week of being in the home that was once mine, I became suicidal at one-point, I cried every day for hours upon hours, I did nothing but sit in my emotions and look at where I was and why what was happening to me, was happening to me. I spent almost every hour of every day researching how to make a relationship work, what makes a successful relationship, etc. I just dove in and tried to consume as much knowledge as I could. I tried to process my emotions and feelings as best as I could. And the end result was a 12 page written letter to my ex-fiance asking him to stay and work on our relationship.
