DIY Craft-Drift Wood Candle Holder

So I said I would post some pictures of some of my favorite crafts that I've done. So I've decided to share my absolute favorite craft today! :)  It's super easy and really cool. I love craft shows and when I went to craft show about a year I stopped at a lady's booth who was selling something similar to this. She had smaller pieces of  wood and larger rocks that she had turned into candle displays. I wanted to buy but I ended up deciding not too because I knew I could make own wood candle pieces for less than what she was selling them for. I figured the wood pieces would be easier than the rock ones.

Anyway it's really easy to make, just find a piece of drift wood that will lay properly on a flat surface. As for shape and size, it all depends on where you plan to place the piece. I made about 3 of them when I first did it and then gave 2 away as gifts. But one was triangular shaped and relatively small the other one was similar to the one I posted pictures of. So after you found the perfect piece of drift wood, clean it and let it dry. Then you'll need a one inch flat wood bit. Then you can drill your holes into the wood piece. Depending on the size and shape of the wood piece you can put 1 hole or 3 holes in, what every your heart desires.  Then just throw in your tea-light candles!
This craft is so great. If you have kids it's something that you could do with them and make a day out of it. Go to the beach (Lake Michigan for me) and spend a couple hours looking for the perfect pieces. Then go home and work on them together. Me and my ex-boyfriend used to do this together and it was really fun and relaxing and a great way to spend time together. These also make great presents for Christmas, Mothers Day, birthdays or house warming gifts. My next piece that I'm going to make is going to be for my parents mantel and I'm hoping to find a piece that's about 4 feet long that will work...we'll see how that goes.
