DIY Crafts

Image
This is a Christmas ornament that I made for my mom. I found this wonderful idea on Pinterest and made these for friends and family instead of buying a gift for everyone. It's a really easy craft and takes about 20 minutes to make. All you need is to buy clear ornaments which you can get from any craft store along with all the supplies you'll need too. I personalized each ornament not only by using the first letter of their first name but also with the color I used for each ornament. For my mom's her Christmas tress is all silver and gold so I made this one to match her tree. For my friends I used a pop of color somewhere on the ornament. Sparkles go inside the ornament, could use that as the pop of color. Then use crystal gems and hot glue them onto the ornament. Top it off by gluing some feathers on top and tying a strip of ribbon through the ornament top. These are frosted glasses that I made. Just take any old plain glass you have; wine glass, shot glass, even a v...

My Closet: LBD Edition

Image
Thought I'd add a couple more pictures of some work outfits I've worn. Both of these outfits have been two favorites of mine because they are both simple outfits almost anyone can throw together and can still super fun to wear.  For the first outfit I simply wore a black knee length skirt with a plain black t-shirt. Then I threw on a red blazer to add a pop of color. Anyone can pull this outfit off and I'm sure most women already have a plain black skirt and shirt in there. And probably some kind of blazer/jacket/cardigan in their closet too. I've had my blazer in my closet for years but haven't worn in probably four years. Really any pop of color with this outfit turns it from simple and traditional to fun and sassy. Next I just jazzed up the outfit with some jewelry that reflects my personal style. I would say my personal style is traditional yet stylish with pieces of edginess/rocker style incorporated, whether it's a studded clutch, cropped leather jac...

Hunting for Drift Wood

Image
So yesterday I had the day off and it just so happen to be 80 degrees out! So I spent the day at the beach taking pictures and looking for some pieces of drift wood for my next candle project. I ended up finding 3 really great pieces that I can't wait to get finished. One is a small piece that I'll put one or two holes into. The second one is about the same size as the one I have posted on here. And then my favorite piece is the biggest one that is around 3 or 4 feet. I'm gonna make that one for my mom and give it to her for mothers day!!!! I'm pretty excited, I just hope she likes it. Thought I'd post some pictures from my adventures yesterday. And I'll be sure to put up pictures of my candle holder pieces when I'm done making them.

My Closet

So I really like fashion and I love that I have a job that I can mix fun pieces and business formal fashion together. So I thought it might be fun to post pictures of my outfits that I wear to work for other fashion lovers and maybe get some new ideas.  Most of my outfits aren't too exciting but I don't think I've worn an outfit to work yet that I haven't had fun wearing or gotten a complement on, which really does wonders for ones self esteem. Anyway at my job we don't have many strict rules on what to wear so it's easy to get away with somethings that might not fly at a corporate office. An example of this would be my first outfit. It's pretty causal but very trendy. Right now colored and designed tights are in and being seen everywhere. I personally love tights because they are so fun and they can be used as an accent or an accessory to any outfit. I chose these tights because my top has a maroon color in it and the design on the tights just add...

Rummage Sale Treasures

Image
So along with crafting my own cool things, I am obsessed with going to rummage sales. I thoroughly enjoy looking through peoples junk to find little treasures that I will make mine. It is one of the many favorite things that I love about summer. I recently just heard of the worlds largest yard sale that spans 600+ miles long and goes from Michigan to Arizona!!!! You can imagine my excitement when I found this out...I emailed my mom immediately and told her about it(she shares my enthusiasm for rummage sales as well) and told her we need to take a 4 day vacation so we can partake in this glorious event. Anyway, rummage sales are a great way to find cheap pieces of furniture and decor for the home and turn them into something fabulous.  These 3 pieces of art work are made of metal with a wood frame around them. I found them at a local rummage sale and the lady wanted like $12 for all 3, I got her to go down to $6 for all 3! What a bargain!!!! Now they are currently placed on my ...

DIY Craft-Drift Wood Candle Holder

Image
So I said I would post some pictures of some of my favorite crafts that I've done. So I've decided to share my absolute favorite craft today! :)  It's super easy and really cool. I love craft shows and when I went to craft show about a year I stopped at a lady's booth who was selling something similar to this. She had smaller pieces of  wood and larger rocks that she had turned into candle displays. I wanted to buy but I ended up deciding not too because I knew I could make own wood candle pieces for less than what she was selling them for. I figured the wood pieces would be easier than the rock ones.  Anyway it's really easy to make, just find a piece of drift wood that will lay properly on a flat surface. As for shape and size, it all depends on where you plan to place the piece. I made about 3 of them when I first did it and then gave 2 away as gifts. But one was triangular shaped and relatively small the other one was similar to the one I posted pi...
